Vancouver Foundation Develop-Research Grant

Shuswap Association for Community Living was successful in their application to the Vancouver Foundation for a grant from their Health and Social Development program. We will be provided $10,000 to help fully develop our project “Community Building Now” in preparation for start-up & implementation.

The Community Building Now project will engage people with and without disability to work together collaboratively to research and identify common issues and concerns related to building better communities that creates action resulting in positive social change and ongoing influence in Salmon Arm and area that benefits the community collectively.

We plan to accomplish this through Participatory Action Research to bring together a diverse group of participants to research a shared agenda of what they and other community members would like to see change in their community that will result in a better, stronger community and identify an effective action plan to address & remedy identified areas in need of change that will benefit the community collectively.

When we have fully developed our project to the implementation stage, we have been asked to provide an application and budget for up to three years for the successful completion of the project.
