Thanks to all the Members, Staff and Special Guests who showed their support for SACL by attending the 2013 AGM on June 19th, 2013.

It was a successful evening for both agency business and on a social level as well.
AGM Business included a review of the Audited Financials, the Report from the Board Chair, the Executive Director’s report, and the passing of a special resolution to change the agency’s by-laws to include all SACL Staff Members and Parents/Caregivers of Persons Supported in the voting membership.

Information received by Members included the Financials, and the 2013 Annual General Report.

Our new SACL website was also released at this year’s AGM.

On June 18th 2013, SACL will hold it’s Annual General Meeting for Members. It is a very exciting year for SACL, a year of respectfully reflecting on days gone by, and embarking on an exciting new adventure while celebrating our 50th year of services to the community!

To help celebrate our 50th Anniversary, a new SACL website will be introduced at the AGM.
The website has been designed to be comprehensive, colourful, fun, informative and user friendly.
Our hope is to have this website be the major form of communication and information to Persons Supported, Families & Caregivers, Employers, Stakeholders, and Community Members alike. The goal is to increase awareness of our services, promote the abilities of our Persons Supported, and to put the spotlight on Employers, Community Members, and Persons Supported who help accomplish our directive of ‘Inclusion for All People’.

Watch for features like:

Employee of the Month
Employer of the Month
Volunteer Opportunity Provider of the Month

and much more!

On June 1st, 2013, SACL celebrated 50 years of service to our community by hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new downtown location at 371 Hudson Avenue NE.
Cake and refreshments were enjoyed by a full-house of community members, staff, board members, persons supported, their families and caregivers.

An unexpected pleasure took place when Maria McCallum stood and introduced herself to the group as the founding member of SACL in 1963. Maria stated how proud she was to be standing here 50 years later, and to see how far we have come in providing services and overcoming obstacles for persons with intellectual disabilities. It was a great honour and a pleasant surprise to have Maria attend and speak at the event.

SACL Services are moved and settled in to the new location.

Many thanks to all the Persons Supported, their families and caregivers, staff and the community for their support and patience during the transition!
We look forward to providing another 50 years of quality service to the people of our community!
